Magnesium anode 3/4" 22 x 400 mm for enamelled DHW cylinders

Universal magnesium anode for corrosion protection of enamelled vertical tanks and horizontal tanks from all manufacturers.  With a 3/4" thread and dimensions of 22 x 400 mm, this model is recommended for enamelled tanks with a capacity of up to 200 litres.

Oxygen and dissolved minerals in the drinking water lead to corrosion of the tank through oxidation of the steel walls - rust is formed. Surfaces in contact with the water are therefore enamelled. As there are micro cavities in every enamelled surface where water comes into contact with the steel walls of the tank, additional protection is provided by a magnesium anode, which protects the tank against corrosion.

Magnesium anodes are alloys of physiologically non-aggressive magnesium, which dissolves in place of steel and prevents iron corrosion. As a result of this process, the magnesium anode degrades and needs to be replaced from time to time. It eliminates the unpleasant odour and colouring of the water. If the water has a high content of sulphates and other minerals, hydrogen sulphate can be produced which smells like rotten eggs.

To remove the unpleasant odour it is advisable to rinse and clean the hot water tank, heat the water to at least 80 ºC for at least 6 hours and replace the anode with a new one and add a small amount of chlorine. If the above described method does not work, replace the anode with an electronic one.
